The Season 2 finale, which aired this week, ended on a major cliffhanger for Kaitlin Olson’s LAPD consultant Morgan Guillory and Captain Nick Wagner (Steve Howey.) Why is Steve Howey leaving High Potential?

Deadline reports Howey will be exiting the show after High Potential Season 2.
The outlet reports Howey only joined the show as a series regular with a one-year deal, so the Season 2 finale marked the end of his role as a series regular. However, there is a chance the Shameless star could be back for more in Season 3.
Sources say there is a chance Howey could return at the beginning of Season 3 to wrap up his character’s storyline.
Howey joined the ABC procedural at the start of Season 2 when Captain Wagner was transferred to the precinct. He was portrayed as both Olson’s foil and a possible love interest, leaving many loose ends for the show to tackle when it returns for Season 3.
Fans can still watch Howey in Prime Video’s Off Campus and the upcoming season of Ransom Canyon.
New episodes of High Potential air Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on ABC. Next-day streaming is available on Hulu.
