Seattle police stumbled upon a murder suspect when they spotted a man dangerously scaling a drawbridge while it was opening — and later found he was carrying meth.

The man, whose identity was not released, was reported attempting to cross the century-old Ballard Bridge while it was being raised to allow boats to pass through the waterway Tuesday evening, according to the Seattle Police Department.

When officers asked the man for his name, he allegedly offered up a fake identity that “happened to have a felony arrest warrant for assault,” police said.

The frazzled suspect then denied being that person.

He was eventually taken into custody by police while on the bridge. It’s not clear how high up he scaled or how officers it took to capture him.

The suspect then tried to run while officers were handcuffing him, but he didn’t make it far, police said.

Cops also claimed they found a bag of methamphetamine and a matching meth pipe when they were patting him down.

The department later used a mobile fingerprint reader to determine the suspect’s real identity.

His prints linked to a second-degree murder warrant out for a suspect who allegedly escaped community custody after “[absconding] from house arrest.”

He was booked into the SCORE jail in Des Moines, Washington. It’s not clear if he will face any additional charges for attempting to flee, his stunt on the bridge, or for the meth.
