Ultra-rich Malibu suffers ‘third-world’ misery as urgent warning issued

Residents of Malibu’s most star-studded streets — where the likes of Beyoncé and Jay‑Z, Lady Gaga, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kim Kardashian have called home — are being told to boil their water or stick to bottled water for the next few days.

The precaution comes after the Los Angeles County Waterworks District No. 29 discovered on Friday that the Lower Busch Tank was not properly secured, raising concerns about the integrity of the local water system.

Although there’s no confirmed contamination, officials are urging residents in the affected areas, including Busch Drive and Cuthbert Road as well as Philips Avenue and Sea View Drive, to avoid drinking tap water until testing is complete.

The advisory aims to prevent any stomach or intestinal illness.

“How inept! Better service in third world countries,” one poster responded to the alert on X.

Bottled water is being distributed Sunday at the Waterworks Malibu Office, 23533 West Civic Center Way from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

LACWD and the State Water Resources Control Board are monitoring the situation closely and will lift the advisory once water tests are confirmed safe.

Malibu’s shoreline continues to be a haven for the rich and famous, even as free spirit Aaron Rodgers recently left the glittering coastline for a quieter inland retreat.

For now, the area’s residents are swapping Malibu sunsets for a cautious sip of bottled H2O, while maintaining their famously luxurious lifestyles.
