Why isn't Artemis II landing on the Moon?

The most powerful rocket ever built by Nasa is carrying the first crewed mission to the Moon in more than 50 years. But it's not actually landing on the lunar surface.

That's because the Artemis program is using this second mission, Artemis II, to prepare for a potential lunar landing by 2028 - as a stepping stone for even deeper space exploration.

BBC correspondent Arunday Mukharji is in Florida for the launch.
