John Harbaugh’s belief in a quick Giants turnaround begins where games end

In some ways it sounded as if John Harbaugh was trying to convince himself the job he inherited is not quite as daunting as it might appear.

The question was posed to the new head coach of the Giants: What makes you think you can come in and win immediately with your new team? After all, the Giants went 4-13 in 2025 and 3-14 in 2024. That is quite a litany of losing for Harbaugh to extinguish.

“The league is a lot tighter than you might think,’’ Harbaugh said recently at the NFL’s annual league meeting. “It’s a tight margin proposition. Every game is close.’’

Well, not every game is close. The Giants last season were beaten soundly by the Commanders, Chiefs, Eagles, 49ers and Patriots.
