A maniac slashed apasserby on his leg in an apparently unprovoked attack outside a Manhattan hot spot known for its scenic rooftop bar Tuesday, cops and sources said.
The 29-year-old male victim was walking north on Fifth Avenue near West 27th Street in the Flatiron District around 9:10 p.m. when the apparent stranger suddenly knifed him with a “sharp object” behind his right hamstring and fled the scene, according to cops and sources.
The assault happened in front of 230 Fifth Avenue, known for its rooftop bar with a sweeping view of the city’s skyline, cops said.

The victim went to NYU Langone Hospital by private means, and was listed in stable condition, police said.
The suspect, believed to be in his 40s with a dark complexion, fled the scene and had not been caught Wednesday.
The two did not appear to have known each other and did not exchange words before the attack, sources said.

The knifing came hours after a stranger stabbed a man after starting a fight with him outside a Chinatown market, cops and sources said.
The 49-year-old victim was knifed in the right arm and back around 9:25 a.m. Tuesday in front of Wai Wah Market Inc. on Catherine Street near East Broadway, cops said.
The victim was hospitalized in stable condition, police said.
He was simply walking north on Catherine Street when he was attacked, and did not know his assailant, the sources said.
No arrests had been made by Wednesday.
